Has anyone been to Costa Rica?

I go to Costa Rica in early October. We do three nights at the Arenal and Guanacaste three nights in San Jose one night. Need advice from people who live or stay there! Our package includes a rental car manual, but the poor are roads? Is there a switch to automatic? What is the general atmosphere, as in these regions in October? What about money – the dollars are acceptable in the U.S.? Every place that we really have to do or avoid completely? And all the tricks and is very useful – Thanks!

While 're also tour Arenal canopy (zip). This is where we made our honeymoon, was a highlight of the trip. Arenal is a fun, and definitely check out the sources of hot water (we went to Tabacon, very impressive.) roads are not bad at San Jose, but once you leave town, well, that is filled with potholes. The roads will be earth and stone. Is likely to get a 4×4. Manual transmission Automatic vs … I guess it's your choice. Manual transmission is good to have to go up or down a steep slope (engine braking). You need a little money in Costa Rica (colones) to pay for unexpected expenses, but as for meals, hotels and tours … the best is better to use Your credit card and let them manage the foreign currency translation. You travel during the rainy season, but do fear. Costa Rica is much less busy that time and the prices are less touristy. We traveled during the rainy season and the season more than I could experience was an hour or two of rain in the afternoon and then clear. It rained every day, though.
