Costa Rica Rental Cars 4×4

Driving in Costa Rica?
The roads are difficult to navigate? We intend to take a rental car at the airport of Liberia and monitoring Riu Guanacaste. This is our first time in Costa Rica (late November). I read elsewhere that 4×4 is recommended, as some Roads tend to be irregular. Is this true?
Roads need attention full time, but they are clearly driveale. I do not think you need a four wheel dirve to spend less on gravel roads – could not use the rules (like Monteverde). The Driving is difficult but not impossible – the drivers are crazy and random bumps are not broken axel. The roads are not very well signed, but should not be a serious problem on your route. It is not recommended to drive to San Jose because of poor business and horrible traffic, but the road would not be so bad. Taxis are probably a cheaper alternative to hiring more ..
