Costa Rica Hostels Beach

Costa Rica or St. Maarten with children?
We would travel in February from 90 to 10 days to 2.5 years, daughter of ours. We would a bit of adventure (as opposed to sit on the beach all day), and used to travel off the beaten path a bit (read: no Hilton but no shelter. Somewhere between the two). Can anyone recommend a destination on the other? Any reason it should not go to one or a them? Any suggested itineraries? Thank you all!
I'm not familiar with St. Martin, but I can say that Costa Rica is very familiar. The Pacific coast is probably the best place to visit, located in the north of Guanacaste, where you fly into Liberia International Airport. If you fly into San Jose, you can visit the central Pacific where the National Park Manuel Antonio is a great attraction for all ages. You'll find all kinds of animals wild, sloths, monkeys and toucans, and a quiet beach with white sand. Another good place to stay is Punta Leona in the central Pacific. The South Pacific is very isolated, but the coastal town of Dominical is very popular. If I had to highlight a point, somewhere between Punta Leona, Manuel Antonio, I think these two are probably the best choice for your travel plans.
Pagalu Hostel, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.
