Costa Rica Happy Planet Index

Costa Rica ranks fifth in terms of overall environmental performance in 2008 in the annual report of the EPI (Environmental Performance Index) developed by Yale and Columbia, but this small Central American country is continually being improved and has been number one for the lucky Planet Index in June 2009. The index measures the happiness of the people of this country relative to its footprint and Costa Rica was the winner.

His plans for carbon neutral nation in 2021 will make it difficult to change this number one.

Meanwhile, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked this emerging economy as the seventh most politically and socially stable countries in the world in March 2009.
