Costa Rica Customs Alcohol

"I can send alcohol from Costa Rica to the United States?

I'm going to Costa Rica for my honeymoon, and I would return as Gifts for liquor invited to attend my wedding. I know I can make one liter of alcohol in your suitcase without any repercussions, but I'm sure I'm going over this limit. Is it possible to send alcohol via Fed Ex or UPS to my home in Virginia? Is likely to be a value of about one bottle of wine (12, I think). If possible, are there limits? Also if you exceed the limit of liters in luggage, do not throw in additional charges or charge you. Do you know how much they charge? Thank you in advance!

You may bring 1 liter of alcohol per person without paying duty. After that, you can always bring more (in the laws of your state), but you have to pay duties and taxes on it. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/paying_duty.xml To send alcohol to the VA, the alcohol must be the consignor and shipping for a winery / distillery or charger under license. You'll still have to pay duties and taxes. Individuals are not permitted to ship alcohol in an airline and do are not allowed to send to VA.
