Questions about Traveling to Costa Rica to see Cloud Forest.?

I’m thinking of planning a vacation to see Cloud Forest in Costa Rica, but I have some questions:
(1) What is the best airport to get off in Costa Rica? Also, if you have the airport code, that would be great.

(2) Once I get off, is there any taxi or shuttle service that will take me there? If not and I have to rent a car, how long (or how far) of a drive is it to Cloud Forest?

(3) Any recommendations as to a really good tour company?

Thanks.

Hi, I agree with Sue about the airport, it will be much easier for you to land in Juan Santa Maria international airport in San Jose.

About transportation, there is a shuttle company called Interbus which provides a good service or you can hire private drivers. Like Sue said, it is kind of a challenge to drive here, much more when it’s your first time in the country. The ride to Monteverde takes between 4 to 5 hours.

The cloud forest in Monteverde is a really nice area, but you don’t have a lot to do once you get there. If you are going to stay one week in Costa Rica I would recommend two or three days in the mountains and consider visiting the National park of Manuel Antonio and its wonderful beaches.

If you have any other about Manuel Antonio area you can contact me through our website.
